Last week Nuclear for Australia attended the Energy Club WA Next Gen Student Expo in Perth.

It was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness, bust myths and educate the next generation around nuclear power.

Members of Nuclear for Australia's expert group including Jasmin Diab and Mark Schneider were on hand to share their experience and insights with students. They were joined by Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel and local university student Nehan Cripps.

During the day over 300 hundred Perth high school students filtered through the exhibitions.

We shared educational and engaging nuclear activities including:

  • Free radioactive bananas
  • Radiation guessing game (to show how everyday objects are radioactive)
  • Free gummy bears (that represent the size of nuclear fuel pellets)
  • Handing out brochures to learn more about nuclear

It's critical to reach the next generation with the facts. Young people have an open mind to nuclear science and technology and understand why it's needed to help combat climate change and shape a successful future.

In addition to in-person events like these, Nuclear for Australia has an extensive social media presence which has been critical reaching young people with the facts on nuclear.

We look forward to future opportunities to raise awareness with the next generation.
