To kick off New York Climate Week, the world's biggest banks and funds have just announced their support for nuclear energy. In total their assets amount to over $20 trillion AUD.

It's clear: the rest of the world sees nuclear as essential to combatting climate change.

This morning they will present pledges supporting the tripling of nuclear energy pledge originally announced at COP28 in a landmark event in the Rainbow Room at the Rockefeller Center.

Major leaders from the banks & funds, nuclear companies and world leaders will be in attendance for the historic day including White House Climate Policy Advisor John Podesta.

The move is yet another indication that the nuclear renaissance is well and truly underway, and that nuclear is viable.

Today, we call on politicians to wake up to the reality of nuclear energy and lift the ban so Australia doesn't get left behind in the fight against climate change.
