Yesterday, Nvidia Founder and CEO Jensen Huang expressed the importance of nuclear energy in a talk with the Bipartisan Policy Center in the United States.

He told the event that "no one energy source will be sufficient" for the challenge of powering the rising demand from data centres and that "nuclear is going to be a vital, integral part" of the solution.

He also congratulated Constellation for their recent deal with Microsoft to restart Three Mile Island (around 48 minutes).

The rising energy demand for data centres presents yet another critical reason for the ban on nuclear energy to be lifted in Australia.

The rise of AI has meant that data centres currently consume 5% of Australia's electricity, a figure expected to grow to 8-15% by 2030. A single data center can consume as much energy as 50,000 homes.

We call on the nation's leaders to immediately lift the ban on nuclear energy.
