Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel takes the case for nuclear energy to Chris Bowen

On the 18th of September, our founder Will Shackel appeared live on Q+A for an energy special with Allegra Spender, Chris Bowen, Nicki Hutley and Ted O'Brien to advocate for the ban on nuclear energy to be lifted.

You can watch the full episode here:

During the episode, Will made a strong and passionate appeal for the ban on nuclear energy to be lifted. In response to a debate on the economics of nuclear he intervened telling the panel "You know what the best way to find out the cost of nuclear energy is? It's to lift the nuclear energy ban because at that point, you can actually see nuclear reactors, what they will cost".

When confronting the claim that lifting the ban would be too difficult for Australia to justify, he pulled out the single piece of paper outlining Australia's ban on nuclear energy and then dramatically scrunched it up.

Will also addressed concerns about nuclear waste management and emphasized the need for reliable electricity as absolutely everything in our lives is electrified.
