Congratulations to our Chair, Dr Adrian Paterson AM, for being recognised in today's Australia Day Honours.

Dr Adrian “Adi” Paterson AM is a leading figure in nuclear science and technology in Australia. As Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) from 2009 to 2020, he led the operation of the OPAL research reactor, expanded Australia’s nuclear medicine and isotope production capabilities, and strengthened national research infrastructure through the integration of the Australian Synchrotron.

A strong advocate for the role of nuclear in medicine and clean energy, Dr Paterson continues to contribute to nuclear policy, innovation and leadership through board advisory services and consulting roles across science and energy, including as Chair of Nuclear for Australia.

His appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) recognises his significant service to the nuclear sector and to science and engineering in Australia.

We thank Adi for his leadership and advocacy in support of our mission, and congratulate him for this significant honour.
